Why GlastonBARRY Deserves Our Support

Every summer, GlastonBARRY transforms Romilly Park into one of South Wales’ biggest celebrations of live music. Since launching in 2013, the annual festival has grown from a small community event into one that welcomes thousands of music fans from across the UK, all coming together to enjoy some of the country’s best tribute acts.

One of the things I loved most this year was GlastonBARRY Juniors on the Friday. Before the main festival begins, the park comes alive with performances from talented local young people, alongside family entertainment, workshops, games and activities. It is a brilliant reminder that festivals are not just about the headline acts. They are about creating opportunities, inspiring the next generation and giving families the chance to enjoy live entertainment together.

The weekend itself brings together outstanding tribute bands from across the UK, creating an atmosphere filled with nostalgia, singing, dancing and people simply enjoying live music. Alongside the entertainment, local traders and independent food vendors are given the opportunity to showcase their businesses, making the festival a welcome boost for the local economy too.

As I shared in my reels on @darla.and.me, it is the atmosphere that really stands out. Seeing people of all ages singing together, discovering new favourites and making lasting memories is what events like this are all about.

Live music events do not happen without support. Every ticket purchased, every local trader visited and every experience shared helps festivals like GlastonBARRY continue to thrive. They are more than just a weekend of entertainment. They celebrate music, support local businesses, create opportunities for young performers and bring communities together. Long may they continue.
