Lucy Pearman Brings Her Celestial Comedy Lunartic to Cardiff
One of the UK’s most inventive comedy talents, Lucy Pearman, is landing at the Wales Millennium Centre this February with Lunartic — her acclaimed, delightfully surreal show that lit up the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025.
Pearman, described by the Evening Standard as “a gifted, not to mention extremely potty performer,” has built a reputation for comedy that’s as heartfelt as it is hilariously off‑the-wall. In Lunartic, she turns her gaze skyward, inviting audiences into a cosmic tale where the Moon dreams of stardom, the Sun won’t stop reminding her who really shines, and a looming eclipse threatens to plunge everything into darkness. Expect whimsical characters, joyful audience interaction, and the kind of prop‑driven silliness that has become Pearman’s signature.
The show’s Fringe success was no accident. Pearman’s career has been a steady ascent since her 2017 Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer nomination for Maid of Cabbage. She’s since delivered a string of critically adored, sell‑out shows — Fruit Loop, Baggage, and now Lunartic, which earned nominations for both the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality and Best Variety Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival Awards.
Beyond the stage, Pearman’s screen work has made her a familiar face. She wrote and starred in the BAFTA‑nominated BBC Three comedy Please Help, and has appeared in The Mind of Herbert Clunkerdunk, Mister Winner, and Dave’s feature-length Red Dwarf special.
Critics have been unanimous in their praise for Lunartic, calling it “inventive and endlessly fun” (Broadway World) and “a thorough delight of a show” (The List). For Cardiff audiences, it promises an evening of cosmic charm, big laughs, and a performer at the height of her imaginative powers.
