HOUSEHOLD: The Quiet Choreography of Love
In a world where grand gestures often steal the spotlight, HOUSEHOLD invites us to look closer—to the quiet, the mundane, the deeply human. Created and directed by Alex Marshall Parsons, this evocative double bill peels back the layers of domestic life to reveal the subtle rhythms that shape long-term relationships.
Originally slated for Cardiff Theatre Café, the production has now found a new home at Roath Church House on Waterloo Road, Cardiff. The venue change brings with it a renewed intimacy, perfectly suited to the show’s quiet power and emotional depth.
Set within a single house, HOUSEHOLD follows two couples navigating the delicate terrain of love after the honeymoon fades. Through movement, gesture, and raw physicality, the performers chart the emotional landscapes of shared routines, unspoken tensions, and the effort it takes to stay connected when life becomes ordinary. There is speech throughout—but no voices are heard. Instead, the story unfolds in silence, making space for audiences to feel rather than simply observe.
What makes HOUSEHOLD especially compelling is its inclusive ethos. Developed by a Welsh LGBTQ+ creative team, the production is designed with D/deaf and multilingual audiences in mind. It’s a celebration of accessibility, intimacy, and the universality of human connection.
Expect to witness morning rituals and quiet habits that speak volumes, moments of friction and tenderness that go unnoticed in daily life, visual language that transcends words and resonates deeply
This is not theatre that shouts, it listens, breathes, and invites you in.
